Q: “How do I send money with Western Union?”
A: Sending money with Western Union is easy. There are different ways you can send money and different options to best suit your needs. Please note that you must be at least 18 years old to send or receive money with Western Union.
Send money on wu.com or with the mobile app
To send your first money transfer with Western Union, create a profile on wu.com or the mobile app.
Your My WU account will be activated after your first transfer and you can start earning reward points for every money transfer you send with WU. Learn more about our Rewards program.

1. Sign up or Log in
2. Select Send Money
3. Select the destination and enter the amount and currency
4. Select how your receiver would like to get the money. You can choose:

• Cash pick up
• Direct to Bank
• Mobile Money Transfers

Service availability may vary, depending on the receiver country*.

5. Choose how would you like to pay:

• Credit** or debit card
• Bank account
• Cash at a WU location

6. Review the transfer summary and submit.

After your first money transfer, it’s easy to send money again. Log in to your profile and select your recipient. If you are sending money to the same person, you can save your last recipient details on your profile. You can add or delete a recipient from your profile anytime. You also have the option to resend the same money transfer to that recipient.

Send money in person at a WU location
If you prefer to send money in person, visit a Western Union agent location to send money using cash or, at some agent locations, a debit card.

To save time, you can start your money transfer online and then pay in cash with our Pay in-store service. Once at the agent location, tell the agent you’ve started this money transfer on the app and pay for your money transfer.

You can send money by phone by calling the Telephone Money Transfer hotline at 1-800-CALL-CASH, if you are sending money from the US to a receiver in the US.

Want to pay in cash? Use Pay in-store
If you want to pay in cash, you can still start your money transfer online with our Pay in-store service to save time, and then pay in cash at any agent location.

To pay in-store, follow these simple steps:
Start your money transfer on the app or WU.com.
Select Pay in-store.
Head to a nearby participating agent location and provide your phone number and payment to complete the money transfer.
After you’re done, you can track your money transfer easily through the app or on wu.com.

* You may be required to provide identity information depending on the service, send amount and the destination of the money transfer.
** Card issuer cash advance fee and associated interest charges may apply. Use a debit card to avoid these fees and charges.
